Certification: L2 accredited course and forestry commssion approved
Assessment Type: There will be a short exam at the end of the course.

This version of the EFAW course includes the extra subjects required by the Forestry Commission to cover severe cuts, such as from chainsaws, crush injuries, hypothermia and lyme disease.

You will find this course valuable if you work in any of the following areas:

  • Agriculture or horticulture
  • Amenity horticulture

Curriculum:

  • Initial care: first aid at work regulations and rules
  • Fears of first aid
  • Barrier use
  • Initial assessment
  • Unconscious breathing patient
  • Recovery position
  • Cardiac problems
  • The heart
  • Sudden cardiac arrest
  • Heart attacks
  • One rescuer CPR
  • Compression only CPR
  • CPR handover to a second rescuer

  • Adult choking
  • Serious bleeding management and wounds
  • Serious cuts such as chainsaw cuts
  • Spinal injury
  • Shock management and types
  • Burns and scalds
  • Anaphylactic shock and allergies
  • Seizures and epilepsy
  • Lyme disease
  • Hypothermia
  • Crush injuries

Please note you should be prepared to kneel and take part in practical activities on the floor.

Please bring along pen and paper.

Lunch is not included so please bring a packed lunch or be prepared to buy your lunch from our onsite cafe, if it is open. There are other places to buy food and drink in the vicinity.

We will provide everything else you need.
