This 4 day course is for people who already hold the chainsaw maintenance and crosscutting certificate of competence and would like to train to fell trees up to 380mm.

This course is suitable for people who work in: Arboriculture, Forestry, Agriculture, Horticulture, Woodland, Local Authorities, Conservation, Construction, Land-based.

This course covers

  • HSE legislation and safety guidelines
  • Felling
  • Branch removal – snedding and de-limbing
  • Cross-cutting felled timber
  • Take down hung-up trees using hand tools
  • Clear site and chainsaw checks.

You will need to already have a certificate of competence in chainsaw maintenance and cross cutting, either NPTC (CS30) or the LANTRA equivalent.

You will need to have a high level of fitness and manual dexterity and be 18 years or older.

You will be required to provide your own PPE and equipment. Please ensure that each item is in a good state of repair and meets current British Safety approved standards.

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing appropriate to the training and the weather conditions.

You will need to bring your own drinks and lunch for the day.

You will need to supply:

  • Chainsaw not more than 15” bar
  • Fuel for chainsaw
  • Chainsaw boots
  • Chainsaw protective trousers
  • Chainsaw gloves
  • British safety standard helmet with ear defenders and visor
  • Non snag upper body clothing
  • Tool kit for saw
  • A personal first aid kit
  • A whistle
  • Loggers tape
  • Pair of tongs
  • Small felling bar
  • Belt &holster (optional)
