Established in June 2011, East Malling Short Courses (EMSC) provides professional training for land-based industries, in particular fruit growers in Kent and the South East. We also provide courses for enthusiastic amateur gardeners who are interested in caring for their fruit trees.
Based at the site of the East Malling Research Estate, EMSC is part of The East Malling Trust, whose primary objectives are ‘the advancement of research, innovation, and education in plant sciences, particularly horticulture and food, to contribute to health, economic wellbeing, and wider society for the public benefit’.
Utilising the comprehensive facilities and the expertise of staff, East Malling Research has been a huge driver for the success of our courses and in reinforcing our standing as an excellent training centre. EMSC is a registered Lantra Awards Approved Training Provider and a City and Guilds Assessment Centre, delivering training that meets rigorous and recognised industry standards. Its reputation for efficient and high-quality training continues to grow, and demand for our courses remains very high.
EMSC remains sensitive and responsive to the needs of local and wider horticulture and land-based businesses, and is always open to consideration of additional training courses to support requirements. If you have any suggestions, we would be delighted to hear from you.
